Some Halloween Poems

Here is some Halloween poems. I remember saying these with my children when they were little. I hope you enjoy!

Five Little Pumpkin Sitting On A Gate

Five little pumpkins sitting on a gate,
The first one said,
"Oh my, it's getting late."
The second one said,
"But we don't care."
The third one said,
"I see witches in the air."
The fourth one said,
"Let's run, and run, and run."
The fifth one said,
"Get ready for some fun."
Then whoosh went the wind,
and out went the lights,
And five little pumpkins rolled out of sight!

Spooks
- by Sandra Liatsos

There's a goblin at my window,
A monster by my door.
The pumpkin at my table
Keeps on smiling more and more.
There's a ghost who haunts my bedroom,
A witch whose face is green.
They used to be my family,
Till they dressed for Halloween.

Walk Into My Parlor
- by Mary Howitt

"Will you walk into my parlor?"
said the spider to the fly;
"Tis the prettiest little parlor that you ever did spy.
The way into my parlor is up a winding stair,
And I have many curious things to show when you are there."
"Oh no, no!" said the little fly,
"to ask me is in vain;
For who goes up your winding stair
can never come down again."

Halloween
- by Mary Jane Carr

Witches flying past on broomsticks,
Black cats leaping here and there,
White-robed spooks on every corner,
Mournful moaning in the air,

Goblins peering out of windows,
Spirit-things that rap and run-
But don't be scared-it's just October,
Having one last hour of fun!

Haunted House
- by Jack Prelutsky

There's a house upon the hilltop
We will not go inside
For that is where the witches live,
Where ghosts and goblins hide.

Tonight they have their party,
All the lights are burning bright,
But oh we will not go inside
The haunted house tonight.

The demons there are whirling
And the spirits swirl about.
They sing their songs to Halloween.
"Come join the fun," they shout.

But we do not want to go there
So we run with all our might
And oh we will not go inside
The haunted house tonight.
The Scariest Thing
- by Mairi Tereas Gallagher

Some things are scary
Others are not,
Like ghosts and goblins,
And things that rot

Cats and dogs are not scary
At all,
All they do is play chase
And catch a ball.

But the scariest thing
Creeps around at night,
Looking for victims
To scratch and bite.

It hides its face
It's too ugly to see,
It rules all the monsters,
Both tall and wee.

Those who've seen his face,
Their eyes burst and bleed,
They beg for mercy
"Spare us, spare us," they plead.

But he's not a giver
He takes what he finds,
All sorts of people
Both sightseers and blind.

You've got the picture,
That he is the king
Of everything scary,
Every little scary thing.

So watch out at night 'cause if
By him you're seen,
He'll give you an evil grin
And say...

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Have an awesome weekend!

Here are some cute recipes to do with your kids:

Ghostly Snack Treats

Kids can help shape these simple, spooky specters

With just a little butter and some old-fashioned elbow grease, you can turn traditional Rice Krispies Treats into these cute Halloween specters. Not a fan of phantoms? Mold the treats into other fiendish shapes, like bats, snakes, or cats. The Rice Krispies Treats® Cookbook (Weldon Owen, 2011) has even more ideas.

Ingredients:
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 package (10 ounces, about 40) regular marshmallows OR 4 cups miniature marshmallows
6 cups Kellogg's Rice Krispies cereal
Flaked coconut
Canned frosting or
decorating gel
Assorted candies

Directions:
1. In large saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.
2. Add Kellogg’s Rice Krispies cereal. Stir until well coated.
3. Using 1⁄2-cup measuring cup coated with cooking spray, divide warm cereal mixture into portions. Using buttered hands, shape each portion into ghost shape. Cool. Decorate with coconut, frosting, and/or candies. Best if served the same day.

Microwave Directions:
In microwave-safe bowl, heat butter and marshmallows on high for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir until smooth. Follow steps 2 and 3 above. Microwave
cooking times may vary.

Halloween Cookies

Cookies are a favorite for any occasion. Make these for trick-or-treaters, take them to a school or church bazaar or fill a tin for a neighbor. Add names to the ghosts to use at place settings.

You Will Need Halloween cookie cutters:
Tube of black icing gel, to outline cookies and add features to ghosts Orange and black paste food colors to color dough
Royal Icing for ghost cookies (see recipe, Step 11) Pastry brush
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened 1 cup sugar 1 large egg 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 teaspoons baking powder 3 cups all-purpose flour Egg yolk for solid orange cookies

What to Do
1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
2. In large bowl, cream butter and sugar with an electric mixer. Beat in egg and vanilla.
3. Add baking powder and then flour one cup at a time, mixing after each addition. The dough will be very stiff. Blend last flour in by hand. (If necessary add a little water to dough if crumbly.) Do not chill dough.
4. Divide dough into three balls. Set one aside and leave uncolored. Knead or mix orange food color in the second ball and black food color into the third. Cover each ball with plastic wrap and keep covered when not working with it.
5. For all cookies, roll dough slightly thinner than the cutter.
6. To make uncolored cookies, roll dough and cut various shapes.
7. To make striped cookies, roll sections of colored and uncolored dough together, side by side, and then cut out cookies. (They will look like the orange, black and white BOO and EEK cookies in photo, above.)
8. For the orange BOO and EEK cookies, use uncolored dough. After cutting out shapes, mix orange food color with egg yolk and “paint” cookies with pastry brush before baking.
9. Place cookies on ungreased cookie sheet and bake 15-20 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool 5 minutes, then remove and cool completely on a rack.

Recipe makes 3-4 dozen cookies.

Icing the Cookies
10. To decorate BOO and EEK cookies, outline baked cookies with black icing gel as shown in photo.
11. For ghost cookies, leave uncolored and add features with black icing gel or color white with Royal Icing made as follows:
3 egg whites, 1 pound confectioners’ sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar. Beat all ingredients at high speed for 7 to 10 minutes or until icing forms stiff peaks. To thin, add 3 to 4 tablespoons water, a small amount at a time until icing is the consistency of heavy cream.
“Paint” icing on ghost shapes with a pastry brush.

Recipe will ice 2 dozen cookies.

Orange Witches’ Brew Punch

Ginger ale sparkles with pineapple juice, apricot nectar and orange gelatin

1 package (6 ounces) orange gelatin
1/2 to 1 cup sugar
2 cups boiling water
1 can (46 ounces) apricot nectar
1 can (46 ounces) pineapple juice
3/4 cup lemon juice

HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIPS FOR ADULTS AND CHILDREN

Halloween is approaching fast so I thought I should remind everyone to be safe out there. Halloween Trick-or-Treating Monday, October 31, usually any time from 5pm - 9pm. Halloween can be an exciting time for children and with the distraction of candy and costumes, safety rules can easily be forgotten. In fact, research shows that distractions can increase a child's chances of being struck by a car. Check out these simple tips to keep Halloween night enjoyable and a safe night for all:

Costumes should be fire retardant and properly fit to the child. Props used by children should be flexible or they should not be carried at all. Instead of a mask, face paints is an excellent choice. If a mask is worn, the mask should have large eye holes and fit the child's face properly. The costume should be light coloured and have reflective material.

When Trick-or-Treating, always use common sense. Stay in the neighbourhoods that you know and if at all possible, go with an adult. Young children should always go trick-or-treating with an adult. Never trick-or-treat alone. Have at least 2 buddies go with you. Plan your entire route and make sure your family knows what it is. Only visit homes where lights are on or where it appears they are taking Trick-or-Treaters. Accept treats only in the doorway. Never go into someone's house or a vehicle. Be sure and say thank you for your treats. Don't play near lit jack-o-lanterns. Walk, do not run. Walk on sidewalks and driveways. Follow all traffic rules-cross at corners and crosswalks-not between cars and make sure traffic is clear before crossing the street. Take a cellular phone with you if possible and wear a watch. Carry a flashlight or carry a glow stick when it gets dark.

Wait until you get home and your parents check your candy before you eat it. Parents should check the candy before allowing their children to eat it. If the candy is unwrapped, is powdery, appear to be torn or punctured, or anything else is suspicious with the candy, throw it out. Hospitals do not x-ray candy.

Halloween means that there will be more children out on the streets. Drivers need to take extra care. Drivers must pay close attention during this time as it begins getting dark during the Trick-or-Treating hours.  Drive slowly in residential areas where children are more likely to be trick-or-treating. Did you know that drivers cannot accurately judge their own speed when driving? The higher the speed, the less likely you are to see a child pedestrian, and the harder it is to stop quickly.

Watch out for kids, many of whom may be wearing costumes with masks that make it difficult for them to see. With the excitement of Halloween, children may forget simple pedestrian safety rules. They have a tendency to dart out in the most unexpected places - the most common being between parked cars. Remember also that costumes can limit a child's vision and they may not be able to see your vehicle.

 Reduce your distractions and stay alert. All your concentration should be on the road, not diverted by cell phones or loud music.

Remember to enter and exit driveways slowly and carefully. Excited trick-or-treaters may run on sidewalks, or dart out unexpectedly. Proceed with caution, when entering or exiting the roadway.

Have a safe and fun Halloween!

CREATE A HEALTHY HOME! Know Your A B C's

KNOW YOUR A.B.C's.
by Dr. Joyce M. Woods

Dr. Joyce Woods worked as a medical/surgical nurse, public health nurse, nursing instructor, nursing school administrator, and occupational health consultant. She holds Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Arts (Specialist), Master of Education degrees, and has completed her doctoral degree in the area of "Indoor Air Pollution, and ...it's Effect on Your Health"

Begin by thinking of your home as a toxic waste dump. The average home today contains 62 toxic chemicals - more than a chemistry lab at the turn of the century. More than 72,000 synthetic chemicals have been produced since WWII. Less than 2% of synthetic chemicals have been tested for toxicity, mutagenic and carcinogenic effects, or birth defects. The majority of
chemicals have never been tested for long-term effects.

An EPA survey concluded that indoor air was 3 to 70 times more polluted than outdoor air.

Another EPA study stated that the toxic chemicals in household cleaners are
3 times more likely to cause cancer than outdoor air.

CMHC reports that houses today are so energy efficient that "out-gassing" of chemicals has nowhere to go, so it builds up inside the home.

We spend 90% of our time indoors, and 65% of that time at home. Moms,
infants and the elderly spend 90% of their time in the home.

National Cancer Association released results of a 15-year study concluding
that women who work in the home are at a 54% higher risk of developing
cancer than women who work outside the home.

Cancer rates have almost doubled since 1960.

Cancer is the Number ONE cause of death for children.

There has been a 26% increase in breast cancer since 1982. Breast cancer is
the Number ONE killer of women between the ages of 35 and 54. Primary
suspects are laundry detergents, household cleaners and pesticides.

There has been a call from the U.S./Canadian Commission to ban bleach in
North America. Bleach is being linked to the rising rates of breast cancer
in women, reproductive problems in men and learning and behavioural problems in children.

Chemicals get into our body through inhalation, ingestion and absorption. We breathe 10 to 20 thousand litres of air per day.

There are more than 3 million poisonings every year. Household cleaners are
the Number ONE cause of poisoning of children.

Since 1980, asthma has increased by 600%. The Canadian Lung Association and the Asthma Society of Canada identify common household cleaners and
cosmetics as triggers.

ADD/ADHD is epidemic in schools today. Behavioural problems have long been linked to exposure to toxic chemicals and molds.

Chemical and environmental sensitivities are known to cause all types of
headaches.

Labelling laws do not protect the consumer - they protect big business. The
New York Poison Control Center reports that 85% of product warning labels
were either inadequate or incorrect for identifying a poison, and for first
aid instructions.

Formaldehyde, phenol, benzene, toluene, xylene are found in common household cleaners, cosmetics, bath and body products, beverages, fabrics and cigarette smoke. These chemicals are cancer causing and toxic to the immune system.

Chemicals are attracted to, and stored in fatty tissue. The brain is a prime
target for these destructive organics because of its high fat content and
very rich blood supply.

The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health has found more than 2500 chemicals in cosmetics that are toxic, cause tumours, reproductive
complications, biological mutations and skin and eye irritations.

Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, arthritis, lupus, multiple
sclerosis, circulatory disorders, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease,
irritable bowel syndrome, depression, and hormonal problems are diseases
commonly related to chemical exposure.

Pesticides only have to include active ingredients on the labels, even
though the inert (inactive) ingredients may account for 99%, many of which
are toxic and poisons.

SOME GREAT INSPIRATIONAL POEMS

Every now and then we all need a good inspirational poems!

These are some powerful inspirational poems that will keep you excited about your dreams.

Read them out aloud and with conviction.

Anything is Possible
  Author Unknown
If there was ever a time to dare,
to make a difference,
to embark on something worth doing,
IT IS NOW.
Not for any grand cause, necessarily…
but for something that tugs at your heart,
something that’s your inspiration,
something that’s your dream.
You owe it to yourself to make your days here count.
HAVE FUN.
DIG DEEP.
STRETCH.
DREAM BIG.

Know, though, that things worth doing seldom come easy.
There will be good days.
And there will be bad days.
There will be times when you want to turn around,
pack it up, and call it quits.
Those times tell you
that you are pushing yourself, that you are not afraid
to learn by trying.

PERSIST.
Because with an idea,
determination, and the right tools,
you can do great things.
Let your instincts, your intellect,
and your heart, guide you.

TRUST.
Believe in the incredible power of the human mind.
Of doing something that makes a difference.
Of working hard.
Of laughing and hoping.
Of lazy afternoons.
Of lasting friends.
Of all the things that will cross your path this year.

The start of something new brings the hope of something great, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.

Achieve Your Dreams
  Author Unknown
Life is what happens while you are making other plans.

A person of words and not deeds is like a garden full of weeds.

It’s better to be trusted than liked, Underpromise – Overperform.
The key to happiness and success is to have a dream.
All the flowers of tomorrow are in the seeds of today.
You always pass failure on the way to success.

You have to wake up in order for your dreams to come true.
Don’t let lack of praise nip you in the bud.
The surest way to go broke is to sit around and wait for a break.
The only thing worse than an alarm going off is the one that doesn’t.

An ego trip won’t get you anywhere.
The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is just that little extra.
If you want the rainbow you gotta put up with the rain.
Count your age by friends, Count your life by smiles.

A natural tendency is to want to be understood rather than understand.
Don’t prepare for rainy days without enjoying today’s sunshine.
Keep your heart a little softer than your head.
Don’t think there are no crocodiles just because the water is calm.

Stand for something or you’ll fall for anything.
Growing old is when fun is a lot more work.
Never insult a crocodile until you’ve crossed the river.
If you don’t lie down no one can walk on you.

If you think things improve with age attend a class reunion.
A good scare is sometimes worth more to a man than good advice.
Motivation is when your dreams put on work clothes.
We have two ears and one mouth, Think twice, speak once!

Experience is the best teacher because it’s always on the job.
You’re never fully dressed until you wear a smile.
It’s what you learn after you know it all that counts.
The greatest mistake you can make is to be afraid of making one.

Happiness is the journey not the destination.
People with goals succeed because they know where they are going.
Does your employer consider you profit or overhead?
Look at life through the windshield not the rear view mirror.

To succeed do the best you can, where you are, with what you have.
Don’t let your voice mail be “voice jail” to your callers.
A man without humor is like a car without shock absorbers.
Wisdom is what’s left over after we smarten up.

Many people quit looking for work when they finally get a job.
About the only thing that comes to us without effort is old age.
Don’t wait for your ship to come in swim out to it.
Every job is a self portrait of those who did it.

Talk less – Say more.
Love at first sight saves a lot of time.
Autograph your work with quality.
You can only control two things your attitude and your activity.

Remember, there’s nothing more constant than change.
If you tell the truth sooner or later somebody’s going to find out.
Experience is the one thing you can’t get on easy payments.
Remember change and change for the better are two different things. be on the level and you won’t go downhill.

All play and no work, does not work.
A goal is a dream with a deadline.
A liar needs a good memory.
Dream of worthy accomplishments and stay awake to achieve them.

The only place success comes before work is the dictionary.
You can be happy without needing others to agree with you.
You are not late until you get there.
Glory comes from daring to begin.

Have a back bone not a wish bone.
Give your troubles to God, He will be up all night anyway.
The greater part of progress is the desire to progress.
Happiness is the place between too little and too much.

Remember no one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
Destiny is not a matter of chance it’s a matter of choice.
Your children need your presence more than your presents.
Each of us has two ends a sitting end and a thinking end, Success depends on which we use.

Many spend half the time wishing for things they could have if they didn’t spend half the time wishing.
For every person who climbs the ladder of success there are a dozen waiting for the elevator.
Happiness is a choice not a response.
God works with you, not for you.

If your dreams turn to dust vacuum.
Do it now, you become successful the very moment you start.
People may doubt what you say but they will believe what you do.
Success -Don’t do what you like, Like what you do.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anyway
  Author Unknown
People are unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered.
Love them anyway!
If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Do good anyway!
If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway!
The good you do today, will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway!
Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway!
The biggest person with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest people with the smallest minds;
Think big anyway!
People favor underdogs, but follow only top dogs.
Fight for underdogs anyway!
What you spend years building up may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway!
People really need help, but will attack you if you help them.
Help them anyway!
Give the world the best you have and it may kick you in the teeth.
Give the world the best you’ve got anyway!
Be Thankful
  Author Unknown
Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire.
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don’t know something,
for it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations,
because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge,
because it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes. They will teach
you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you’re tired and weary,
because it means you’ve made a difference.
It’s easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who
are also thankful for the setbacks.
Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles,
and they can become your blessings.
Some Bible Humor
A father was approached by his small son who told him proudly, "I know what the Bible means!"
His father smiled and  replied, "What do you mean, you 'know' what the Bible means?
The son replied, "I do know!"
"Okay," said his father. "What does the Bible mean?"
"That's easy, Daddy..." the young  boy replied excitedly," It stands for 'Basic Information Before Leaving Earth.' (This one is my  favorite
"Is there anything breakable in here?"  asked the postal clerk.
"Only the Ten Commandments." answered the  lady.
"Somebody has said  there are only two kinds of people in the world. There are those who wake up in the morning and say, "Good morning, Lord," and there are those who wake up in the morning and say, "Good Lord, it's morning."
A minister parked his car in a no-parking zone in a large city because he was short of time and couldn't find a space with a meter.
Then he put a note under the windshield wiper that read: "I have circled  the block 10 times. If I don't park here, I'll miss my appointment. Forgive us our trespasses."
When he returned, he found a citation from a police officer along with this note "I've circled this block for 10 years. If I don't give you a ticket I'll lose my job. Lead us not into temptation."
There  is the story of a pastor who got up one Sunday and  announced to his congregation: "I have good news  and bad news. The good news is, we have enough money to pay for our new building program. The bad  news is, it's still out there in your pockets."
A hand  shot up in the air. "He is an artist!" said the  kindergarten boy.
"Really? How do you know?"  the teacher asked.
"You know - Our Father, who does art in Heaven... "
A  minister waited in line to have his car filled  with gas just before a long holiday weekend. The  attendant worked quickly, but there were many cars ahead of him. Finally, the attendant motioned him toward a vacant pump.
"Reverend," said the  young man, "I'm so sorry about the delay. It seems as if everyone waits until the last minute to get  ready for a long trip."
The minister chuckled,  "I know what you mean. It's the same in my business."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

People want the  front of the bus, the back of the church, and the center of attention.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sunday  after church, a Mom asked her very young daughter  what the lesson was about.
The daughter  answered, "Don't be scared, you'll get your  quilt."
Needless to say, the Mom was perplexed.  Later in the day, the pastor stopped by for tea  and the Mom asked him what that morning's Sunday school lesson was about.
He said "Be not  afraid, thy comforter is  coming."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The minister was  preoccupied with thoughts of how he was going to  ask the congregation to come up with more money  than they were expecting for repairs to the church  building. Therefore, he was annoyed to find that  the regular organist was sick and a substitute had  been brought in at the last minute. The substitute  wanted to know what to play.
"Here's a copy of  the service," he said impatiently. "But, you'll  have to think of something to play after I make  the announcement about the finances."
During  the service, the minister paused and said, "Brothers and Sisters, we are in great difficulty; the  roof repairs cost twice as much as we expected and  we need $4,000 more. Any of you who can pledge $100 or more, please stand up."
At that moment, the substitute organist played "The Star  Spangled Banner."
And that is how the substitute became the regular  organist!

When you carry the Bible, Satan gets a headache..... When you open it, he collapses..... When he sees you reading it, he faints..... When he sees that you are living what you read, he flees..... And when you share God's Word.... He will try and discourage you.. I just defeated him!!!  Any other takers?

God Bless!

WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR TIME?

What are you doing with your time? Are you wasting it? Are you using it to you best maximum value?

Here is a 'Minute with John Maxwell" His word today is TIME

John explains it really well, and I totally agree with his message. Check it out!

Here are some quotes about TIME :

"Better three hours too soon, than one minute too late."
~William Shakespeare

"Nothing is a waste of time if you use the experience wisely."
~Rodin

"In the year as you make use of. One man gets only a week’s value out of a year while another man gets a full year’s value out of a week."
~Charles Richards

"The key is in not spending time, but in investing it."
~Stephen R. Covey

"Ordinary people think merely of spending time. Great people think of using it."
~Author Unknown

"Determine never to be idle. No person will have occasion to complain of the want of time who never loses any. It is wonderful how much can be done if we are always doing."
~Thomas Jefferson

"Make use of time, let not advantage slip."
~William Shakespeare

"This time, like all times, is a very good one, if we but know what to do with it."
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

"A man who dares to waste one hour of life has not discovered the value of life."
Charles Darwin

"Dost thou love life? Then do not squander time, for that is the stuff life is made of."
~Benjamin Franklin

"Once you have mastered time, you will understand how true it is that most people overestimate what they can accomplish in a year – and underestimate what they can achieve in a decade!"
~Anthony Robbins

"If you want to make good use of your time, you’ve got to know what’s most important and then give it all you’ve got."
~Lee Iacocca

"It’s not enough to be busy, so are the ants. The question is, what are we busy about?"
~Henry David Thoreau

"It’s how we spend our time here and now, that really matters. If you are fed up with the way you have come to interact with time, change it."
Marcia Wieder

"Realize that now, in this moment of time, you are creating. You are creating your next moment. That is what’s real."
~Sara Paddison

Here is a poem about TIME.

This is the beginning of a new day.
God has given me this day to use as I will.
I can waste it or use it for good.
What I do today is important, because
I am exchanging a day of my life for it.
When tomorrow comes,
this day will be gone forever,
leaving in its place something
that I have traded for it.
I want it to be gain, not loss;
good not evil; success not failure;
in order that I shall not regret
the price I paid for it.
~Author Unknown

I hope you enjoyed this and got the message. We must manage ourselves to use time to the best of are abilities. It truly is a real value to do this. Don't waste you time!

Make everyday a great day!

Did You Know......?

Did you know.................
50% of all illness is due to poor indoor air quality (Source: 1989 State of Massachusetts Study)
AIR FRESHENERS: interfere with the ability to smell by coating nasal passages with an oily film, or by releasing a nerve deadening agent! Toxins in air fresheners include: Formaldehyde: highly toxic, known carcinogen. Phenol: can cause skin to burn, peel, and sweat. Can cause convulsions, coma, circulatory collapse and even DEATH!

LIQUID DISH-SOAPS: is the leading cause of poisonings in the home for children under the age of 6 (over 2.1 million accidental poisonings per year) (contains formaldehyde and ammonia in most brands) One Million poisonings in Canada each year are due to household cleaner ingestion. Some are fatal. The #1 cause of household poisoning is dish detergent. What kinds of chemicals are in those products? http://www.rense.com/general19/chemical.htm

AUTOMATIC DISHWASHING DETERGENTS: contain dry chlorine that is highly concentrated. #1 cause of child poisonings, according to poison control centers.

CHLORINE BLEACH: is a strong corrosive and can burn or irritate skin, eyes and the respiratory system. Can cause vomiting or coma if swallowed! WARNING! Never mix with ammonia as the fumes are very dangerous and can be DEADLY!

AMMONIA: is very volatile and damaging to the eyes, skin and respiratory tract!

FURNITURE POLISH: contains Petroleum Distillates, which are highly flammable and can cause lung and skin cancer!

DRAIN CLEANER: most drain cleaners contain lye, hydrochloric acid or trichloroethane, which are all very caustic. They burn the skin and eyes, and can cause liver and kidney damage.

OVEN CLEANER: contain lye, which is a strong caustic and irritant to skin and eyes. Can cause tissue damage if swallowed.

TOOTHPASTE: can contain a number of harmful ingredients, such as: ammonia, benzyl alcohol/sodium benzoate, colors, ethanol, flavours, fluoride, formaldehyde, mineral oil, plastic (PVP), saccharin. Formaldehyde, mineral oil, PVP, and saccharin are all classified as carcinogens or suspected carcinogen, as is fluoride, which has been banned in many European countries and is the subject of concern with regard to thyroid problems. In fact, as of April 1997, toothpaste is required to carry poison control information on the label as even a small amount can harm or kill a small child.

Occupational Safety & Health analyzed 2,983 chemicals used in personal care products. A personal care product is de-fined as anything we use to clean our bodies, or make ourselves look or smell good.
The results are as follows:
884 are toxic
146 cause tumours
218 cause reproductive complications
314 cause biological mutation
376 cause skin and eye irritations
778 caused acute toxicity

Over the last 20-30 years, as more toxic chemicals have been introduced in greater amounts, the level of toxins stored in adipose tissues (fat cells) of our bodies has risen. Bio-accumulation studies have shown that some toxins store in our bodies for life. Greater and greater amounts are being stored at younger ages. Diseases that used to occur later in life are now appearing at younger ages. Diseases that used to be rare are more frequent. For Example: There has been a 28% increase in childhood cancer since the addition of pesticides into household products. (Source: National Cancer Institute)

In one decade, there has been a 42% increase in asthma (29% for men; 82% for women-the higher rate for women is believed to be due to women's longer exposure times to household chemicals) (Source: Center for Disease Control)

Due to the increase in toxic build-up in our bodies, including the toxic build-up of formaldehyde, dead bodies are not decomposing as fast as they used to. (Source: National Institutes of Health)

There is an increased risk for leukemia in children where parents have used pesticides in the home or garden before the
child's birth (Source: Journal of the National Cancer Institute)

Over 150 chemicals found in the average home have been linked to allergies, birth defects, cancer and psychological
abnormalities. (Source): Consumer Product Safety Commission

In most cases, however, you won't find much information on the label. There are no requirements of manufacturers to actually disclose what is in a product, and there is no regulation or enforcement. All of it falls under proprietary trade secret legislation.

Today, cancer is the leading cause of death for women ages 35-74. In 1901 cancer was considered a rare disease. Statistics show that only 1 out of 8000 people had cancer. TODAY, according to the American Cancer Society, 1 out of every 3 people has cancer. TODAY, 1 out of every 2 people has been touched by cancer. The fear of cancer is on every-one’s mind these days. So many forms of cancer and they all had to start somewhere . . .

How Safe is My Family?
This is the question that every parent should be asking themselves.

We have no choice but to breathe the air, eat the food, and drink the water; but we DO have a CHOICE of what we put on our skin and what products we have in our homes.

I know that I personally do not ever want to believe that I caused harm to my family, when I had the choice to change it. I’d love to help ensure a safer home for your family.

For more information on how to make your home a healthier place for you and your family please go to my website and I will call you with the information. I would love to help you have a healthier safer home!

I truly think if you don't have belief in what you are doing and in yourself, there is no chance in success. But if you do have the belief, all things are possible!
